Schweppes has announced its biggest GB investment in over 200 years, which includes the launch of a premium skittle-shaped bottle as well as a brand new range of naturally flavoured mixers for discerning drinkers.

The new Schweppes bottle is modelled on the original Schweppes skittle which was blown and formed in a single piece by inventor Jacob Schweppe back in 1783. The Schweppes range is available in 125ml and 200ml glass bottles for the licensed channel.

Meanwhile the new premium mixers, called Schweppes 1783, are available in 200ml skittle glass bottles and have a golden Schweppes sash and black livery which will differentiate the range on any back bar.

The five-strong mixer range features Crisp Tonic Water, Light Tonic Water and Golden Ginger Ale as well as two unique flavoured tonics; Salty Lemon Tonic Water and Quenching Cucumber Tonic Water.

In the latest addition to their portfolio of Asian beers and ciders Kingfisher Beer Europe Ltd, has announced that it has reached agreement with Lion Brewery (Ceylon) PLC of Sri Lanka to market and distribute their flagship brands Lion Lager and Lion Stout across the UK and selected European markets.

Lion is the ‘Pride of Sri Lanka’ and has been brewed since 1881.  It has over 80% market share in its home market as well as being the market leader in the Maldives.  Hundreds of thousands of UK tourists come back every year loving the brand.  The lager uses roasted malts to give a golden colour and mild fruity and caramel notes.  Its slight sweetness and tempered hops make it a truly refreshing lager.

Milk drink brand YAZOO is introducing chocolate to its No Added Sugar range, making it the UK’s first ever No Added Sugar and No Artificial Sweeteners Chocolate Milk Drink.

As with the current No Added Sugar flavours, YAZOO No Added Sugar in Chocolate contains no more sugar than a glass of semi-skimmed milk. It is also a natural source of calcium and protein.

Due to popular demand, the new flavour is available now available in the Foodservice sector from November in 200ml single serve format.

Richard Duplock, marketing manager for YAZOO at FrieslandCampina says: “Chocolate No Added Sugar is a really exciting new launch for YAZOO. Developing the right chocolately flavour took some time for our innovation team to perfect, but we’re absolutely delighted with the end result."

Fuller, Smith & Turner P.L.C has released its 2017 edition of Vintage Ale.

The ale (8.5%ABV), is the 21st edition in the range and has been created by Fuller’s recently promoted head brewer, Georgina Young. In the spirit of all things new, this brew uses a malt and hop combination never seen before in a Fuller’s beer.

This brew also includes a new malting barley – a British variety called Laureate.

Fuller’s head brewer George Young said: “I am honoured and privileged to be able to put my signature on this year’s Vintage Ale and carry on its legacy."
