BrewDog to build craft beer hotel opposite Aberdeenshire HQ

Scottish brewer and pub operator Brewdog has revealed plans to build a 26-room ‘beer hotel’ next to its headquarters in Ellon, Aberdeenshire.

DogHouse, the company’s first UK hotel, will take up a 3.25 acre site previously belonging to manufacturing firm, Power Jacks.

The hotel, scheduled to open in the first half of 2019, will feature beer taps in the rooms and a built-in shower beer fridge.

Last year Brewdog announced plans for a DogHouse opposite its US headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.

DogHouse Ellon will overlook the firm’s brewery and new brewhouse and packaging hall extensions which are planned to be completed by the end of this year.

Both hotel and brewhouse, along with the construction of new breweries in Australia and China and 15 pub openings in the UK, will be heavily funded by Brewdog’s Equity for Punks crowdfunding campaign.

A fifth round of fundraising began in October last year and has so far raised more than £12.5m from 27,000 investors.

After hitting its target within three months, the round was extended and is due to finish on 15 October. Since its inception in 2009, the company has raised more than £53m through the platform.

Brewdog said: “We can’t wait to get this project started as we expand to the east side of our current brewhouse, creating more jobs for Aberdeenshire and ending up with a destination for the many people who travel to our part of the world to see how we do things.

“A brand new BrewDog hotel; two minutes’ walk from DogTap, a minute from our HQ offices. Introducing the DogHouse. You may never want to check-out.”
