Over 90% of Brits want food companies to reduce the amount of sugar and calories in ‘everyday’ foods and drinks, Public Health England (PHE) has today (20 November) revealed.

The same amount (90%) said they support the government working with the food industry to make food healthier – listing the NHS as one of their biggest reasons, as 79% believe obesity has a ‘negative impact’ on the service.

To mark the 25th anniversary of National School Meals Week (NSMW) last week (12-16 November), Havering Council gave 13 of its longest serving dinner supervisors a chance to relax and let someone serve them instead.

Havering Council’s HES Catering Service, creator of the healthy eating app Veggie Run, has partnered with West Ham United Foundation to teach more children about healthy eating across the capital.

Through the Veggie Run app, the premiership foundation will deliver its own ‘Healthy Hammers’ programme to over half of primary and junior schools – approximately 2,400 children - in the borough.

This will further encourage healthy eating and teach pupils of its benefits.
